You may be eligible for certain benefits if you are of working age. Job Centre plus can provide you with a wide range of information and services, like benefits, loans and grants and help with finding a job.

Listed below are the main benefits and allowances for working age people administered by Job Centre Plus:

  • Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) - a benefit for people who are unemployed and looking for work

  • Carer’s Allowance - an allowance when you care for someone who is disabled and in receipt of certain benefits
  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA) - a benefit for disabled children and adults to help with extra costs you may have because you're disabled
  • Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit - a benefit relating to illness or disability caused by an accident or event that happened at work
  • Bereavement Benefits - a range of benefits relating to financial hardship due to the death of a close family member

  • Budgeting Loans - loan to purchase important items

  • Crisis Loans - loan in an emergency

  • Community Care Grants - financial help to live independently
  • Funeral Payments - help with the costs of arranging a funeral
  • Sure Start Maternity Grant - a one-off payment to help with the costs of maternity and baby items
