CELCIS - Looked After Children in Scotland
We are CELCIS, the Centre for Excellence for Looked After Children in Scotland, based at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. We want to make a difference. Taking a multi-agency, collaborative approach, we break down barriers and forge new paths to change thinking and ways of working with everyone whose work touches the lives of looked after children and young people.
We're dedicated to making positive and lasting improvements in the wellbeing of children and young people living in and on the edges of care, and their families, across the whole country, and the globe - children who, through no fault of their own, are not able to enjoy the same positive experiences and outcomes as many of their peers.
In our partnership work with carers, social workers, teachers, nurses, charities, councils and government officials, we work to understand the issues, introduce the best possible practice and develop solutions. What's more, to achieve effective, enduring and positive change across the board, we take an innovative, evidence-based improvement approach.
And we do this by providing a unique package of services and working alongside our partners across the children's sector:
- Consultancy
- Learning and development
- Policy
- Qualifications
- Research
We take great pride in the fact that we're blazing a trail as the only dedicated centre for looked after children in the world.
