There will be 2 posts available as listed below:

  • Shop Assistant which will be for 25hrs per week and payment will be £11 per hour. The approximate hours will be 9am to 2.30pm Wednesday and Thursday, Friday and 9am to 3.30pm and 9am to 5pm on a Saturday.
  • Shop Supervisor which will be for 30 hours per week and payment will be £13 per hour. The approximately hours will be 9am to 5pm Wednesday to Saturday.

Job Description for Post 1 – BUS476642499

Ness Refill is going to be a new zero waste shop in the Queensgate part of Inverness. The main purpose of the store is to encourage people to reduce the amount of waste they produce on a regular basis by allowing then to bring their own containers to purchase goods in. There will also be pre-packed items for sale together with household and personal cleaning items which will be part of the zero waste range and also some local products such as organic eggs and jams.

The post holder will be required to help customers negotiate their way through the zero waste process run within the shop, ie showing them how to use the weighing system. The post holder will also be responsible for processing payments from a customer which will be done both by cash and card systems. The post holder will be required to make sure that containers are kept full at all times and that items are taken from stock in correct rotation. They will also be required to make sure that all containers and equipment is kept clean in the appropriate manner at the end of each day and assisting the shop supervisor to help get things organised for the next day. The post holder would ideally have experience in a retail environment and also have an interest in trying to promote reducing waste. The post holder will need to be able to work as part of a team but also required to use their own initiative to solve problems as they arise.

The post holder will be required to be responsible for ensuring the day to day running of the shop. The will be required to open the shop on a daily basis and also ensure that everything is in place ready for opening. The post holder will be required to help customers negotiate their way through the zero waste process run within the shop, ie showing them how to use the weighing system. The post holder will also be responsible for processing payments from a customer which will be done both by cash and card systems. The post holder will be required to make sure that containers are kept full at all times and that items are taken from stock in correct rotation. They will be required at times to receive orders which are delivered. They will also be required to make sure that all containers and equipment is kept clean in the appropriate manner at the end of each day and ensuring things organised for the next day and directing the shop assistant with regards to this. They will at times be required to cash up at the end of the day. The post holder would ideally have experience in a retail environment and also in a supervisory capacity. The post holder will need to be able to work as part of a team but also required to use their own initiative to solve problems as they arise.
