Welcome to Work Experience

Please find below some brief information relating to work experience. We hope this may be useful to you in deciding whether to offer a work experience opportunity at this time.

What is Hi-Hope?

Hi-Hope.org is a website designed for young people between the ages of 14 and 25, which provides local information and guidance, as well as details of opportunities, to help support young people transition from school to adulthood.

Young people, in school, also go to Hi-Hope.org to apply for work experience.

Who are we?

The Work Experience Administrator for the Highland Council is responsible for the upkeep of the opportunities on Hi-Hope, as well as liaising directly with schools, the DYW and Employers regarding work experience.

Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) is the Scottish Government’s Youth Employment strategy to better prepare young people for the world of work. The employer led Developing the Young Workforce Regional Groups set up across Scotland are connecting employers with education.

We work collaboratively to organise and maintain work experience opportunities for young people in the Highlands.

What is the process?

What’s next?

If you’re interested then that’s great! Just get back in touch and we will start taking the next steps.

If not, or if you’re just unable to support work experience at this time, that’s fine too. Let us know and we’ll make a note in case we get any more enquiries about your business.

Either way, thank you for taking the time to consider offering work experience. We understand that as an employer you are very busy and your time is massively appreciated by both the Highland Council and the DYW.
