Enable Works - All in Highlands Project

ENABLE Works’ All in Highland Project is supported by Highland Council and European Social Fund to provide a personalised support service for people with Additional Support Needs, aged 16+ and based in the Highlands, to help find and keep a paid job.  Our support is personal to you – we will work with you to meet your needs.

We will support you to find a job that you want to do.  We can support you to find job vacancies that suit you. We can support you with job applications and preparing for interviews.

When you get a job, we can support you and your employer to make any changes you need at your workplace. We can give you job coaching in work to help you do your job well – and keep it.  We can also give you advice about money and benefits. And we can tell you about other services in the Highlands who may be able to support you as well.

What do we offer and what can you achieve?

We will support you at all stages of the employability pipeline to gain key skills and qualifications.

Stage 1 – You will be matched with an Employment Coordinator (EC) who remains with you throughout your journey towards employment.  We will get to know you and help you develop a Work Focussed Action Plan.  Activity will include (but not limited to): Independent travel training, Confidence-building activity, introduction to community-based activities you are interested in, participation in ENABLE Works Inspire Me ‘transitions to adulthood’ training and support you with any challenges you may be facing, working in partnership with specialist agencies who can help – whatever your needs we will be there with you at every step of your journey.

Stage 2 – We will offer you intensive 1-1 and group work session which will help you identify and build on your individual skills and qualities and understand how these fit with job roles.  We help you understand what opportunities are available in your area and our training sessions include Developing a Positive Mindset; Confidence Building; Personal Motivation and Managing Health for Work/ Disability Support for Work.  We will arrange flexible work tasters and volunteering opportunities for you, supported by your Employment Coordinator.  Everyone also receives a Better Off in Work Calculation to ensure you can make a decision about starting work and how this impacts your financial situation.

Stage 3 – ENABLE Works can help you participate in a wide range of employability and vocational activities to help build on your core skills.  We are an accredited SQA Centre and offer a range of accredited skills programmes including a Level 3 Award in Personal & Social Development.  We also have a suite of core skills and sector-based training including: CV Building, Goal Setting, Job Search, Money Management, Communication Skills, Community & Citizenship.  Undertaking a Work Placement and a 6-week digital employment course “ENABLE Us”.  We can also support your to plan and deliver your own community volunteering project.

Stage 4 – At Stage 4 you can access an SQA Level 4 accredited course in Personal & Social Development and we will provide you with intensive support with issues such as job search and interview preparation and you will undertake a two week work placement of your choice.  We will teach you how to find job opportunities through various routes with includes our Employer Engagement Team, Employer Database, local press, social media, recruitment agencies, JCP vacancies and employer websites.  When undertaking your job search we will look at a wide range of options including apprenticeships, self-employment and higher-level skills development.

Stage 5 – Once you have found your dream job, we will continue our support to you through mentoring, coaching in work.  Help you identify any reasonable adjustments you might need in work and liaise with your employer to help you settle in quickly to your job role.  Ongoing support is offered for up to 12 months after you start your job, so we are with you every step of your journey.

Who can apply?

Our opportunities are open to anyone aged 16+ with an additional support need who lives in Highland.  If you are still at school but leaving shortly please get in touch if you want to find out more about our programmes. The programme is on-going, so you can apply at anytime.

What can you achieve?

As an SQA Accredited Centre, we offer SQA Level 3 and SQA Level 4 courses in Personal & Social Development and Personal Development Award of Introduction to Workplace skills.

Could I get a training allowance?

If you are in receipt of DWP benefits you may be entitled to continue claiming - speak to your Job centre Advisor for further information.

Application for this requires to be made following appropriate Highland Council and/or NHS assessment for Adult Services and consequent resource allocation procedures.
