Youth Arts Consultants - call out for young disabled people

Interested in the arts? Interested in equality? Want to learn about making things more accessible for disabled people? Come work with us!

Birds of Paradise (BOP) are open for applications for Youth Arts Consultants (YACs). The YACs are a group of young disabled artists, supported by BOP.  YACs provide advice and guidance on making arts organisations more accessible to disabled people. With support from BOP, the YACs undertake accessibility audits of web pages and printed materials, venues or activities. If people don’t require a full audit, but would just like some advice on accessibility, YACs can answer questions submitted to them via an online question portal.

Applications are welcome from anyone who identifies as disabled, who is aged 18 – 26, who has track record of being involved in the arts and is based in Scotland.

The ideal candidates will have:

  • a high level of skill in using computers and other tech
  • access to a computer (or similar device) and internet speeds that allow effective remote working previous interest in the arts

However, we do not want any of the above to be a barrier so do talk to us if you have concerns. Being able to articulate your ideas will be an important part of being a YAC.
