West Highland College UHI - Stage 2

What do we offer at Stage 2?

We offer a ‘roll on - roll off’ College based employability programme.  The focus is on building confidence levels, gaining trust and empowering you to realise your potential.  In liaison with the Employment and Development Advisor, you will contribute to the development and review of your Individual Learning Plan.
Regular attendance at the College in Fort William or Portree will be required.  Group and 1 to 1 sessions are organised to best meet your needs.  When you are ready, you will be encouraged to move into a work placement.

Who can apply?

This programme is suitable for anyone who is aged 16 to 24 and is not in education, training or employment. You will probably need to build up skills and confidence before you can consider further learning or employment.  The programme is offered at the College in both Fort William and Portree.

What can you achieve?

Participants will work towards a SQA Employability Award at level 3.

Can I get a training allowance?

You may be eligible to receive a weekly training allowance of £55 or an amount equal to your benefit allowance if you are registered with the Job Centre.

Who do I contact to find out more?

If you are aged 16 or 17 you can speak to your local Skills Development Scotland Office for further information or if you are registered with the Job Centre, speak to your Job Centre Advisor,
or contact the College directly.
