Shirlie Project - Stage 2

What do we offer at Stage 2?

When you join us on the Employability Fund at Stage 2 you will work 1 to 1 with a job coach.  We take time to get to know you, establishing what you like (and what you don’t like).  We will work with you through your individual training plan and help you gain the skills and confidence you need to be successful in your future.

You may already know the job you want, but if not we use tools and exercises to find a role that would best suit you.

Once this is identified and you feel confident we will work with you to find a positive work experience placement with a local employer.  You will be with us, and on placement for around 13 weeks.  Our support continues throughout this time and if, at any stage you feel your placement is not suitable we can explore alternative options.  We can, if needed, offer in-work support, where for a limited time we will join you in your placement and have hands-on involvement in your training.

Who can apply?

This programme is suitable for anyone who is aged 16 or 17 and is not in education, training or employment and is offered throughout the Highland region.

What can you achieve?

As you are coming to the end of your placement and have gained skills and experience we will help you seek suitable paid employment, additional work experience or volunteering activities.
You will also have the option to gain a SCQF level 3 Employability Award.

Could I get a training allowance?

You could receive a training allowance of £55 per week for taking part in the Employability Fund.  You will contribute the first £3 per week for travelling expenses and the rest will be reimbursed.
