NHS Highland: Learning Disability Additional Support Team

The Additional Support Team is a multi-disciplinary team comprising of a psychologist and three learning disability nurses.

We offer specialist services for people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour living in the Highland Health and Social Care Partnership area.

The team operates within the framework of Applied Behaviour Analysis, aiming to provide functionally based interventions that are non-aversive in nature.

We work in conjunction with existing support services that the person receives including

  • families
  • social care providers
  • community learning disability nursing
  • occupational therapists
  • psychologists
  • psychiatry and
  • speech;/ and
  • language therapists.
