What do we offer at Stage 1 + 2?

Inverness Botanic Gardens was formerly The Floral Hall & Training Centre.  It is a unique visitor attraction that offers a tranquil break amidst beautiful floral displays.  
The Garden Project is specifically designed for people with learning disabilities and operates on behalf of The Highland Council’s Health and Social Care Service. The Garden Project offers the opportunity to gain and develop the core skills required as a first step towards entering supported employment or specialised skills training or simply to enjoy a reasonable level of social inclusion. 
Gardening is used as a way of developing skills offering a wide range and type of activity.

Training is through practical work experience and centres on Social Skills; Health & Safety; Ready for Work Attributes; At Work Attributes; Pre-vocational Skills and Vocational Skills.

Who can apply?

This opportunity is for the 18+ age group.  You must be referred by your Social Worker and should have a reasonable degree of physical fitness and stamina sufficient to participate in gardening activities.  You and your Social Worker must advise us of any medical or other conditions you may have. All trainees will also need up-to-date anti-tetanus status.

What can you achieve?

By undertaking gardening activities you could include improve your health and the ability to understand yourself and relate to others.  You will also be developing your core skills and gaining valuable experience that could help you to secure employment or further training opportunities.

Can I get a training allowance?

You will be paid £1.50 per day attendance allowance.
